About TXCAPS

Texas Career Advising & Placement Services (or “TXCAPS”) encourages members to establish partnerships between employment recruiters and community/technical college placement professionals to meet the changing needs of the present and future workforce.

Members express, promote, and confirm the objectives and goals of the community and technical college job placement process.

Our mission is to strengthen bonds between individuals in community college Job Placement/Career Services and employers by creating partnerships, sharing employment information, and resolving problems related to the job search.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the Texas Career Advising & Placement Services organization (or “TXCAPS”) shall be to serve as an organization in which the membership may promote, realize, and express in definite form the ideas and goals of community/technical College placement processes.  To achieve this purpose, the membership intends to share information while providing a partnership between business and industry and community/technical College placement professionals to meet the changing needs of the present and future work force.

TXCAPS began on March 31, 1977, and was chartered by Job Placement professionals who belonged to JCCSPAT - Junior/Community College Student Personnel Association of Texas.  The organization was recognized as “PAT” (the Placement Association of Texas) until 2007.

Board Members

TXCAPS is governed by a Board of Directors composed of a President, Vice President for Colleges, Vice President for Employers, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian, and Immediate Past President.

New officers are elected at the annual conference by a majority of members present and voting for two year terms.
